Brook End Colts U15 v Hitchin Town Youth U15

Sunday, April 20 2008

This weekend we were drawn against league leaders Brook End Colts. After such a fantastic Herts County Cup Win last weekend, we knew that this was going to be another tough game against an extremely good footballing side.

From the whistle Hitchin looked lathargic and within 2 mins Brook End pushed forward and took the lead, this then lead to what can only be described as a fine display of football from the home side.

Midfield of Danny Blanchard, Jordan Armstrong, Kyle Ronald and Josh Corkhill struggled to get first to the ball and with Brook End 'on fire' Hitchin Town were shocked to find themselves 4-0 within 10 minutes!

The defense of Matt Aherne, Josh Cook, Arron Goldsmith and Josh Millett struggled and nothing seemed to go our way. Nothing can be taken away from Brook End, they took every chance and looked hungrier than our boys.

By half time the scoreline was an embarassing 6-0, the team were shocked, so were us spectators!

With the second half starting, Hitchin seemed to start raising their game. Midfield started to win balls and pump forward to Bryn Reynolds and Liam Toomey... At last, a breakthrough... Liam found himself one on one with the keeper and took his chance. 6-1.

A few changes were made in the second half which saw Ross Bates and Micheal Evans come onto the field of play. Both boys did extremely well in their respective Midfield positions and Hitchin seemed to take a little more control of the game.

Hitchin started passing the ball around but Brook End just outplayed us on the day. With the final whistle looming Brookend 'stuck the knife' in with another goal to finish the game 7-1. A much better second half boys...but just too late :-(

Each and every one of you know that we can play much much better than we did yesterday, we dont need to tell you that but hey thats football.... we need to just pick oursleves up and get on with what we know best...we still have 8 games left to play and every single game will be like a cup final from hereon in.
