On a cold February morning wearing their blue away kit, the Harriers started on the attack with a good run down the middle of the field by Elliot. However, it wasn’t long until they were under pressure requiring Juan to header the ball away from the goal closely followed by a good clear by Danny.
One of the Fairlands Youth's players found some space and Ryan found himself faced with a one on one encounter. Fortunately he took the ball safely. Again the Harriers found themselves under pressure but Ryan was there again to make a very controlled save. The Harriers then went on the attack with Joe making a good run down the middle of the field before passing to Elliot who had a good shot at goal which the Fairlands Youth’s goalkeeper managed to save. Daniel won the ball with an excellent tackle and then passed it to Joe who passed to Elliot who then tucked the ball into the corner of the net to score the first goal of the day [1 - 0]. The last few minutes of the first half saw some great defending by Juan, Danny and Daniel and a lovely pass from George to Elliot.
The Harriers started the second half well and were hungry for the win. It wasn’t long before Elliot did an excellent pass to Joe who hit the crossbar in his attempt to kick the ball over the goalkeeper. Determined to get a goal Joe then had another attempt, this time he kicked the ball wide. It was third time lucky for Joe though as after a run down the pitch he kicked the ball into the right hand side of the goal to make it [2 - 0]. Again Daniel worked really hard and did some great defending with Juan making some good passes. In the final minute of play George made a lovely run down the pitch which he finished with a shot just over the goal. Despite playing uphill, the Harriers played awesome throughout the whole half.
The Harriers played really well against a good team. Well done lads!
