Arlesey Town Youth U17 v Hitchin Town Youth U17

Sunday, April 6 2008

Hitchin kept the League and Cup double dream alive with a Semi-Final triumph against local rivals Arlesey.

Under lights at the Arlesey Town ground a large crowd saw the home team start strongly and Arlesey took the lead midway through the first half with a fine 30 yard drive in to the top corner.

Hitchin's reaction to going behind was impressive and Junior Morrison, the League's top striker, headed home to see the teams go in level at the break.

In the second-half Hitchin gained control of the game and began to stretch the home team's defence with some fine passing and movement.

With 15 minutes left Junior slotted home his 47th goal of the season and then had the chance to secure victory with a penalty only to fire his shot over the bar.

With the game going in to added time, a clever volley from a near-post corner by Charlie Sparks "sparked" scenes of great celebration among players and supporters as the Cup Final place was secured.
