The Harriers started off their game with an orbital shot from Danny who standing on the edge of the Harriers box managed to get the ball to sail way over the Stevenage goal. As the long game continued, a long pass from Daniel in the Harriers defence was just too long for Elliot to reach on his first run forward. Mathew and Elliot started to partner well as they passed their way into the Stevenage box and Elliot managed to finish it [1-0].
Joe and Elliot also managed to pass their way through the Stevenage midfield, a long throw in from Joe found Elliot whose shot forced a quality save from the keeper. A cross from Joe by the Stevenage right corner flag was picked up by Elliot whose shot was cleared by the Stevenage defence. A long pass from Joe forward to Elliot was passed back to Joe who managed to force a corner. The corner was picked up by Elliot whose shot was just wide of the right post. Joe made a strong run down the right wing and made an accurate cross to Elliot whose shot was saved by the Keeper. Joe had a massive shot on goal blocked by the keeper which nearly carried the keeper into the goal. Another attacking run by Joe resulted in a deflection off the keeper that was finished off by Elliot to make it [2-0] at the end of the first half.
The Harriers continued to apply pressure as the second half got underway; a strong run through the midfield and defence by Joe saw the ball straight in the back of the net [3-0]. Stevenage responded with a quick counter attack but the ball sailed right over the bar. The next chance came from Mathew pushing forward through the Stevenage midfield with a forward through pass to Joe squared across to Elliot whose shot beat the keeper to make it [4-0]. A long pass from the Harriers defence by Danny found Joe in space who ran forward and had a shot that was just wide of the right post. Daniel played a terrific diagonal ball through to Elliot in the box who unfortunately couldn’t quite get a foot to it. As the Harriers continued to dominate the play in the second half, a strong run forward by Juan and a beautiful flick pass to Mathew was buried into the back of the net [5-0]. For the last five minutes Joe and Elliot were substituted giving Dean and Ed time on the ball. A pass forward from Ed in the closing stage of the game was picked up by Juan whose shot found the left corner of the goal to make the final result [6-0].
It was another stellar performance from the Harriers, who are gelling so well as a team now. The quality of passing and awareness of other player’s locations as improved significantly since the start of the season. Well done.
