Hitchin were drawn at home this weekend to Bedford Town Colts.
The game started off at a fast pace with both teams playing some good football. The Midfield of Ross Bates, Gareth Hedges, Kyle Ronald and Danny Blanchard fought for everything and passed the ball between themselves with ease.
It was long before and run at the visitors goal saw a penalty kick awarded to the home side. Bryn Reynolds stepped up to the mark and smashed the ball into the top of the net. 1-0

Hitchin were strong throughout and played some of the best football we have seen them play. The Defence of Matt Morley, Josh Millet, Aaran Goldsmith and Josh Cook were solid as always and looked confortable with any attacks from the visiting forwards.
Liam Toomey and Bryn Reynolds partnered well up front with some fantatsic one touch football which saw a second goal from Liam Toomey find the back of the net. 2-0
Bedford held their heads up and tried hard to win the ball in midfield but it was plain to see the Hitchin were the better side on the day and after a fantastic run down the wing from Ross Bates he took the ball passed 2 players and slotted the ball for our third goal of the game. 3-0
Just before half time Bedford were awarded a corner which was safely seen out by our strong defence, then on the break Liam notched his second of the game. Half time score 4-0.

Matt Aherne and Michael Evans came onto the field of play and after some injuries within the team a few boys were asked to play out of position.
Bedford started taking a little control and after a slight scramble in our goal mouth Bedford slammed the ball into our net. 4-1
The boys restructured and with some more excellent displays of football Bryn saw himself one on one witht he goalie and took his chance for his second of the day. 5-1.
Towards the end of the game Hitchin were unfortunate to give away a free kick which Bedford took full advantage of...Final score 5-2.
A little disappointing to let in 2 goals especially after such a stunning 1st half performance, but you did what you had to and safely secured 3 points.
Well done boys, the first half of this game was something you should all be proud of and is how you need to continue playing, well deserved 3 points!
