Hitchin Town were drawn away Tuesday evening for the start of our 'catch up' games.
After the shock of losing at the weekend, Hitchin Town knew exactly what was needed. Hitchin Town started off fast, and on such a lovely evening, the boys seemed ralaxed and confident in giving Bedford a great game.
Hitchin Town dominated play all over the pitch with some good passing play between the defence of Arron Goldsmith, Kev Millett, Josh Cook and Josh Millett and the midfield of Gareth Hedges, Ross Bates, Kyle Ronald and Jordan Armstrong.
Hitchin pushed up well and Bedford were finding it difficult to gain the upper hand, then out of the blue Bedford went against the run of play and took their first chance of the game to take the lead. 1-0
Bedford grew in confidence, but it was always apparent that Hitchin were controlling everything and it was only a matter of time that the forwards Liam Toomey and Bryn Reynolds started putting pressure on the home side defence and keeper. Just before half time, Bryn smashed the ball into the back of our net to put us on equal terms. 1-1.
A few changes were made after half time which saw Michael evans and Danny Blanchard take to the field. Hitchin were still looking the better side on the day and both Bryn and Liam kept the home keeper busy, missing by inches many times. James was, as always dominent in his box and any attempts at goal were safely punched away.
Jordan did well in Midfield and gave him the chance he needed to take us into the lead. 1-2
Michael and Ross in Midfield also did well and fought for everything, lots of nifty footwork from both players saw them run rings around the home side and when the chance came Michael took it on and scored giving us the 3-1 win.
