THE RETURN! Could the boy's match last weeks performance and go into second place in the league?.
The short answer was NO! Fair play to AA they came determined to battle and compete and in this aspect they were by far the better team.
Hitchin were caught cold, complacent , ill prepared call it what you will but we were second to everything today, and where last week everyone took responsibility, very few took responsibility today, or maybe the real AA turned up today!
Olly had 3 good attempts from long range free kicks as AA were determined to keep Hitchin away from the box where Ben had punished them severely the previous week.
The game took a while for a goal to come but it did from a needless free kick conceded and an unmarked striker headed into the net 0-1. A big wake up call, could the boy’s respond? YES emphatically at last Ben was able to shake off his two constant markers and finished after a terrific through ball from midfield. 1-1
Some terrific saves from Harry kept the scoreline the same HT 1-1.
Mike tried to rouse the boys but in fairness the second half was the same with AA the more determined.
AA scored a dubious tap in after a melle in the box 1-2 and Hitchin's heads dropped further when a first time shot from the impressive AA striker wormed its way under Harry and suddenly we were 1-3 down. A fantastic volley sealed an emphatic if slightly flattering scoreline 1-4 to AA.
Boy's you were not at the races today and unfortunately were not able to repeat your tremendous performance from the previous week. We are and you should still be proud of your achievements this season to finish third and have so many good memories from this season.
Lets finish on Sunday with a big smile back on your faces and get back to what you are good at, playing football.
