Mid Herts Useless Parents League - Firesharks v Parents

A bright sunny day at Ickleford saw an entertaining contest betwen feisty Firesharks and a motley crew of parents in an interesting array of footwear.

Firesharks worked well in unusual positions and a 3-0 scoreline was a  just reward for their hard work, name calling and general showing off.
 
Despite a muttered "we will thrash them" from dads pre match, the game was only taken to a higher level when French & Miley entered the fray with Miley making an immediate impact in midfield.
 
So lots to work on for the parents really........
Peel in goal was watchful and positioning good but 3 goals conceded tells me he can't drop to the ground quickly enough.

Hill sweeping in defence was diligent but I didnt like the socks pulled up high.  Edwards was a revelation, strong, busy with some ace through balls very nearly my man of the match, Brazier played a tidy role at right back trying to feed the ball through for our missing midfield and  I thought he stuck to his task well today.

Cousins played left back - I would like him to apply the same attention to detail to his football as he does to his fishing.  Gower was here there and everywhere, hit a post and probably deserved to score, again close contender for Man of the Match but god does he gab......  French was disappointing for me - some good positioning but dispossessed far too easily  for my liking - if only she could stop getting her mirror out to check hair and make up whilst on the pitch and remain more focussed on the game then we would see a big improvement.

Miley started well but faded as the game drew on, not wanting to head the ball in case hairstyle was affected really will have to be worked on at training.  Barney was oustanding.  A little more practice for our four legged friend on not biting the ball/kids ankles/parents ankles and we could have a real player here.

An interesting range of calls in this game.............lots of  "sorry's"  from the parents because of misplaced passes and "Man on " became "Dog on" as Barney grew in confidence.
 
It went to penalty shoot out as these sorts of games do............whatever the kids said we (the parents) won and I'm in charge so thats how it is ok ?
