Five star Firesharks put on an excellent display of team football today to win 5-1 against a very useful S & B Rangers who had defeated us in a pre season friendly.
It was important we played this game today given the difficulty of finding a playable pitch and big thanks are due to the very sporting Darryn at Rangers who made big efforts to get this match played - also a very sporting opponent in defeat, bit of a star really.

Nearly a goal for Sharks
There was a particular star in the Firesharks team but more about thim in a bit. On 12 minutes a scintillating run and super cross from Kieran was put away by Dom to make it 1-0. Goalmouth scramble on 15 minutes saw Nick put another away in the box to make it two. Another decent corner from Kieran saw Matt score with a blinding shot from about 18 yards to make it 3-0. On 25 minutes an unfortunate back pass own goal from Rangers saw us sitting comfortable 4-0 at half time.
Slightly relaxed Sharks let Rangers get one back to make it 4-1, a well taken goal - but Matt with a solo run and sidestepping challenges sent in a blinding dipping volley to make it 5-1 on 40 minutes.

Sharks attack a corner ball
Overall good defending today, Andy & Ethan looking very sound in particular. Joe M was excellent in the tackle and strong at closing down, Nick had a good hard working game and Matt for me was a close runner for Man of the Match. Ryans handling when needed was very safe and positioning excellent. This game was played on an adult pitch and with Kieran playing a role that gives the team width he dominated the right wing in the first half sending over sublime crosses and corners - the wide space suited him and for an U11 player to put across quality balls as he did today was excellent - a worthy man of the match. Well done. 6 points from 2 games in 2007 is good boys - keep it up.
