Firesharks opened up their 2007 account against unlucky Bengals with a resounding 12-0 win today in horrible conditions at Purwell.
Plucky Bengals played with only 10 men so it was always going to be difficult for them but to be fair Firesharks adapted to the pitch conditions far better and were easily the stronger unit.
It was 6-0 at half time, and what was pleasing was seeing the boys trying to spread the ball across the pitch and play through balls for the strikers for the very tight half way line offside trap which Bengals play well - but not well enough today.
Good performances by all today, in particular I thought our defence of Kayne, Andy, Ethan and Callum were excellent in stemming any attacks and playing intelligent passes out of defence - well pleased with them today.
Matthew had a great game - kept position well and benefitted from that with 3 good goals, Nick was back to his best with intelligent play unselfish passing and a worthy man of the match.
