Hitchin Town Youth U14's v Bedford Town Colts

Sunday, November 12 2006

Hitchin Town Youth were drawn at home this weekend against Bedford Town Colts.

With settled weather we all knew just exactely how well Bedford Town can play and were ready for what we may be up against.

Bedford Town came out fast and passed the ball around with some ease.  Hitchin Town were solid though and intercepted a lot of the visitors passing.  It wasnt long before some fantastic passing in midfield between Ross Bates, Matt Gibson,
Gareth Hedges and Bryn Reynolds lead to a great goal from Liam Toomey to take us in front.

This goal seemed to give our boys more confidence and the football played was, to say the least, OUTSTANDING!  Ross Bates made a great run from his midfield position running through the Bedford Town defense to add another goal. Just
before halftime link up play between the midfield lead to a stunning goal from Jake Daniels, unfortunately and to the amazement of all spectators this goal was disallowed!!!

The second half saw much of the same sort of football from our boys, defensively solid as usual and passing the ball around with ease. Bedford Town's keeper was busy all afternoon and pulled off some great saves to stop a lot of attacks from the home side. Liam Toomey added another goal to the game as did Kyle Ronald and eventually Jake Daniels to bring the final score to 5-0.

Boys...... you were fantastic! You did exactly as the management asked, and, for that you have yet again been rewarded with another 3 points.

Well done to all of you, you showed a team spirit which obviously works, keep it up!!!
