A flat sort of game saw Firesharks exit the County Cup today.
A good run in our first year as 11 a-side to have reached the last 32 in the County from what started as 130 teams at round one.
A reasonably balanced match I felt once we had learnt how to cope with Celtics over the top balls and fast forwards and it could have have gone either way, but Sharks attacks on goal in the first half amounted to one only via long range drive from Joe M. A much more inspired performance second half saw everyone closing down quickly and some very decent attempts on goal, and a goal bound effort unfortunately hitting the post late on.
Just 12 players available to us - so little opportunity to switch things around - but no excuses, we were not on 'fire' today and I would prefer we are 'on fire' for our league games rather than cup competitions.
Great performance from Joe M today in midfield. Oli deserves special mention for coming on and working very hard as right back - very good game, Matty was also very strong and worked tirelessly.
