Hitchin Town Hurricanes U10 vs Barton Rovers Jets U10's

Saturday, April 29 2006

The boys were relaxed after their rest of a few weeks and so were unprepared for the fast start by Barton….. a goal down in the first few seconds.  However after this rude awakening by Barton the boys then arose from their slumber to demonstrate the skills they've picked up this season.

Rhys narrowly missed out on a goal from a Lee corner and later in the game made a terrific clearance from the Hitchin half.  However, a great goal kick by Matt found Oli who made a good pass to Lee who in turn slotted it home seeing Hitchins first goal about 5 minutes after the Barton wakeup goal.  A few minutes later Barton made a great run at Hitchin but were unable to get past Matt who made a great save.

Simmy demonstrated to his team point perfect passing on several occasions finding his players in space and enabling chances, hence his well deserved MOM.  Alfie battled hard to help Lee out up front and his efforts were rewarded with the second Hitchin goal off a rebounded Oli attempt.   Jack was unlucky not to score his shot at goal just going wide.    No more goals were to come in the first half but solid passing by Ruman, Alfie, Lee and Harkareet helped to create chances and keep possession. A well taken Barton free kick was kept out by solid defending; ball headed out and away from goal.

The second half saw two blasters and a good corner from Barton kept out.  Callum, playing his usual role of terrier at the Barton players heels, closed down play and played a large part in Barton not scoring more. Hitchin attempts came in the form of Harkareet X2, Jack, Ruman & Lee.  However Rhys was to slot in a great goal to make it 3-1 at the end of play.

A great finishing match to the season,  well done to the boy's, Jaz and Sarah.
