Baldock v Hitchin Town U9s

Saturday, February 18 2006

Hitchin kick off the game and start well, though Baldock quickly get into the game and win the first corner.  Both teams are playing attacking football, but it is equaled to some good defending.  11 minutes into the game and Baldock score a well-taken goal.  The Hitchin players' heads drop a bit, as Baldock looks to have had a boost of confidence.  The Hitchin players seem to being waiting for the ball to get to them, rather than going to the ball, and in doing so are losing out to the other team.  Baldock are passing the ball around well, but Hitchin are losing their shape and are getting sucked into all going for the ball.  The first half finishes 1-0 to Baldock.

The second half starts and Baldock are out of the blocks straight away, which make the Hitchin players look static.  Baldock are making most of the play, but Hitchin break and almost get the equalising goal, but it is a rare attack and Hitchin are back defending again.  Baldock get the goal they have been pushing for from a good free kick.  Hitchin hold out until the end of the game without conceding any more goals.  They were put under pressure during the game and unfortunately seemed to panic a bit when they had the ball.

Final Score: Baldock 2 Hitchin 0

Baldock start the second game, and it starts similar to the first game with Baldock putting pressure on Hitchin by not giving them time on the ball.  Hitchin have a good spell of attacking football, but Baldock score against the run of play to make it 1-0.  Hitchin continue to battle well for the ball, and keep looking for the equalizer.  Unfortunately, they go behind by another goal as Baldock score on the counter attack.  Hitchin have a tendency for the whole team to go on the attack and leave no defence.  Baldock go 3-0 up and the Hitchin players' heads drop a bit.

The second half start where the first half ends, with Baldock attacking.  Hitchin battle well for the ball, though they don't look like scoring against a very strong Baldock defence.  Most of the play is being played in the midfield area as both teams battle for the ball.  Hitchin close down the ball very well this half and don't give the Baldock players time on the ball.  Hitchin play a very good second half and keep a clean sheet.

Final Score:  Baldock 3 Hitchin 0
