Hitchin Town Hurricanes U10 v Celtic U10

Saturday, March 25 2006

To stand any chance of heading the table Hitchin needed this game to go in their favour.

Celtic too had this in mind at the start of the game when they came out strong and ready for action.  The Hurricanes took a while to find their feet and get into the match.  Celtic's number 8 with his powerful throw ins and the speed of their number 14 caused us problems, however it was off a corner Celtic scored their first goal from a Hurricanes rebound.

After the initial disappointment of conceding, Hurricanes came back into the game and worked hard.  The second half saw our best attempts at goal, Ruman Alfie and Lee making things difficult for Celtic with Oli taking a free kick which got round the wall but sadly went over the cross bar.

Hitchin scored late on in the game from a Harkeerat pass to Jack who made a good finish.  Simmy, Rhys and Callum had been strong in defence and so a one all result would have reflected the level of play of both teams, however a late Celtic penalty lead to a goal.

The Hurricanes may have missed out on the top slot but should still finish in the top three of their league and be proud of the improvements they've made this season.
