Hitchin Under 11s Thunder kicked off the new season with a good performance that will give them confidence for the season ahead.
Moving into division two of the Royston Crow League, this was a battle against one of the other teams that will expect to be battling for honours.
On a giant pitch with long grass, the lads showed great determination in sticking to their football and staying focused to the end, despite going so close to breaking the deadlock with no fewer than three goals ruled out for offside.

Letchworth were dangerous on the break though, hitting the post in the first half and then Luke saving the follow-up, whilst he made a fantastic stop late on that could have been costly otherwise.
Such was the importance of Luke's goalkeeping and concentration, he was awarded the man of the match award by manager Barry Alderson.
But all of the lads played well, including the new boys such as Sam, Lee, Simi and Rhys, who have joined since the step up to eleven a side.
Despite the fact that Hitchin will feel they should have won the game, this will surely be reflected on as a good away point come the end of the season.
