Firesharks burst on to the CJ7's scene with an emphatic 8-0 win against plucky Warden Hill today to get off to a great start.
Although we had met Tigers in a tournament this summer we were not too sure what to expect so it was satisfying to see a good passing display by the boys which will give them bags of confidence for their next game.
Two outstanding hat tricks today from the superb Nick and from the fantastic Courtney - his first in a Hitchin Town shirt. Tigers were a good sporting side who we wish the best of luck to in their forthcoming matches.
Within 8 minutes we were 3-0 up as Courtney first pounced to poke the ball between the keepers legs to make it 1-0, then was put through by Ethan to get his second.
Courtney's hat trick came via a great shot from Nick which hit the bar and Courtney pounced to make it 3-0.
Nick then sent in a fab free kick from way out to make it 4-0 and added our 5th with a wicked dipping shot from the right wing which flew in to the net. Nick sent in another shot which the keeper palmed away but Dominic who had a great game reacted fastest and got a good goal to make it 6-0. Second half saw Ethan make a superb left wing run evading 3 Tigers players to put in a cross which Nick slid in to meet perfectly and convert for one of our most exciting goals of the day.
Tigers had a pop and Ryan was one on one with their striker but held his nerve to make a superb diving save and tip away the danger. For our final goal Nick beat 3 players on the left to send in a perfect pass for the unmarked Joe F to slam into the net to make it 8-0.
Great performances from all the squad today who reponded to my calls for a big team effort. Kayne and Joe M were hard working, Andy was outstanding today . Well done boys on your debut in CJ7's.
