Hitchin Town Hurricanes U-10's v Square U-10's

Saturday, October 8 2005

Playing at home to Square in their final division qualifier brave Hurricanes drew 1 - 1 but were hailed as heroes by their manager Jas, supporters (and neutrals alike) who watched this match in disbelief!

With no substitutes available for this one the lads played at their very best from the kick off, ripping Square apart when it came to speed, passing and all round ball skills. For most of the first period the ball was very rarely out of the opponents half but despite countless great breaks on goal by Jack, Lee and Oliver and some super distance strikes by Alfie and Simmy the deserved goals didn't happen. Unluckily however, during a rare attack by Square a free kick resulted in a cruel deflection into the net that saw Hurricanes undeservedly go into the break a goal down.

The second half once again showed off the boys clear superior football skills with Callum and Simmy supporting Matt brilliantly. Alfie and Oliver dominated the mid-field and Lee on the right wing and Jack as striker made an absolutely blinding partnership and ultimately with their combined speed and agility a Lee through ball saw Jack stick it away for the equaliser. A more deserved goal I have never seen! Though it should have been one of many...circumstances made it the only one.

Man of the match Oliver (but they all deserved the VC!)
