Sporting Stevenage Stripes played games against both Firesharks and Hurricanes today on one of those rare occasions that both U10 sides were at home (alongside the U8 and U9's also) ! This has become a sort of annual friendly against Stripes who have good support and a good set of lads.
The purpose of the friendly was to keep both teams on track before starting our CJ7 league programme next week.
Firesharks controlled this game from the start and there was very little threat from Stripes, what did not get past a strong midfield of Joe M, Nick, Dom and Joe F and therefore had very little chance against Andy, Ethan and Kayne in defence if they did. Ryan was composed and alert and Courtney had a good game and collected another two very good goals.
It was 4-0 at half time via a net buster from Dom from a corner to start us off, Courtney added two more and Dom made it 4-0 at half time. Dom scored again in a new striking role for him and Nick finally (after several opportunities) put away our sixth.
Good effort from the boys today - not one of our best performances I thought despite the scoreline - great to see Dom get his first hat trick in Hitchin colours - we knew it would come ! a close call for Man of the Match as it so often is lately with this superb set of boys.
