Bishops Stortford Town U16 v Hitchin Town Youth U16

Sunday, March 18 2007

Hitchin slipped to their second league defeat of the season at Bishops Stortford. The conditions were awful, with a hard, uneven pitch, hail-storm and strong wind turning the game in to more of a battle than a football match.

That said the home team adapted better to the conditons and Hitchin were only able to change round level at half-time, having played "with the wind" in the first-half. Junior Morrison turned in Charlie Sparks' cross mid-way through the half, only for a Bishops Stortford striker to be allowed time and space to turn and fire home from the edge of the box a few minutes later.

Chances were at a premium in the second-half, but the home team took the points with a goal 15 minutes form the end.
Valuable league points lost, and with the same opposition in the League Cup Semi-Final in two weeks, this was a wake-up call.

Result: Bishops Stortford Town U16 2 Hitchin Town Youth U16 1
