Hitchin Under 10s filled a blank Saturday by again testing themselves against a team from a higher league, and ran out worthy winners.
Whilst Hitchin sit second in the Chiltern Junior 7s Division Two, Maulden are mid-table in Division One.
A tight game saw flying tackles on both sides, with Hitchin having to match Maulden physically before they could play their normal passing game.
Most of the half-chances went to Hitchin, with Ryan shooting just wide and some excellent corners from Jake causing the home team problems.
But Hitchin had to defend well throughout. A brilliant Ryan volley went wide and Jake hit the foot of the post as it looked like one goal either way would win the match.
Late on, following a Maulden attack, Hitchin broke and a mazy run from Ryan released Liam, who just managed to find the far corner for 1-0.
Maulden’s heads dropped badly and Hitchin took advantage as Christian looped in an excellent shot (with even better celebration) for 2-0.

Maulden fought for a goal at the end, causing Luke to make a couple of saves and Alfie cleared off the line. But the clean sheet remained.
Another impressive win.
