CUP FINAL APPEARANCE SECURED FOR UNDER 16s

A League Cup Final is the reward for a gutsy performance on Sunday.

In contrast to the flowing football shown in the Quarter Final romp at Stotfold, the lads had to show another side to their game to overcome a determined Bishops Stortford team. Playing against a strong wind in the first-half, Hitchin were content to reach half-time level at 1-1, with Charlie Sparks excellent early lob being cancelled out by a 35 yard volley which flew past Seb Rowland.

Three goals in five second-half minutes settled the tie, Charlie completing his hat-trick and Callum Winn finishing cleverly one-on-one with the 'keeper.

The determination needed to make if through to the final was exemplified by skipper Lee Moulton and key midfielder Tom James who both had an influential 40 minutes or so despite carrying knocks which would have kept many lads out of the game.

Harlow are our opponents in the final with the date to be confirmed.

Result: Hitchin Town Youth U16 4 Bishops Stortford Town U16 1
