Hitchin advanced to the semi-finals of the League Cup with a convincing win against Division 2 leaders Stotfold.
With little football in recent weeks due to postponements and the atmosphere of a "big match" at Stotfold's Roker Park, the lads were ready to play, totally dominating the game from the first minute when the home 'keeper was forced in to a save.
Junior Morrison opened the scoring from the spot after a trip halted his run in to the box. The woodwork was struck twice before Charlie Sparks finished off a flowing move, brilliantly chesting the ball down before firing a low shot in to the corner.
A second goal from Junior early in the second half ended the game as a contest, the League's top striker adding 5 more to his total in this match. Charlie added his second and Jimmy Jacob completed the scoring to keep the lads on course for a League and Cup double.
The game was very well handled by the ref and thanks go to Stotfold for arranging for the game to be played at Roker Park and hosting an after-match buffet despite the disappointment of defeat.
