Firesharks blitz Comets in County Cup
Just eleven players available today, our first ever County Cup game, a long journey to Hemel and a team we knew nothing about……. but……a storming win from the ‘Band of Brothers’ as we named the team today, scoring a massive 20 goals against hapless Comets.
Comets tried bravely to stem the flow in the first half but Firesharks were the stronger and more able side and 8-0 it was at half time . Firesharks were instructed at half time to keep shape, control the ball and play a passing game which they did - slamming another 12 goals in the second period to make it 20 nil.
Dominic netted 5, Joe M and Courtney scored four goals apiece. There were hat tricks for Kieran and Matt and Ruman rounded it off with a single .
Ryan as goalie was a bystander with just one overhead save to make – he spent most of the time leaning on his goalpost chatting to his grandad.
The boys played with a good spirit and celebrated at the end with their customary run from the field followed by rolling down the Gadebridge Park hill and landing in the middle of another match ! Not all cup games will be as easy as this one but we enjoyed it. Best of luck to Comets for their season they were a very sporting set of lads given the heavy defeat.
