Hitchin saw off newly-promoted Letchworth with goals from Junior Morrison (2), Jordan Tritschler and Jordan Carter.
The deadlock was broken after 10 minutes with a controversial penalty decision after a Letchworth defender was adjudged to have handled Callum Winn's skidding drive. Junior coolly converted from the spot and Hitchin took a 1 goal lead in to the break.
Hitchin doubled their advantage when Jordan Tritschler's cross-shot looped in to the top corner with the keeper stranded.
Junior added a third, weaving his way through the defence to slot the ball home, and substitute Jordan Carter rounded off a fine move in style with a cracking half-volley from the edge of the box 5 minutes from time.
