Memorial Park Steelmen v Hitchin Town Firesharks U 10's

Firesharks began 2006 where they left off last year with a convincing win against Steelmen to remain top of Division 1.

There was not much steel evident from our opponents in the first half as Firesharks dominated with a sublime display of passing football.  Nick scored with a precision free kick clipped off underside of the bar to make it 1-0 followed by Joe F who at last got his first goal of the season from close in the box. Andy piled in a storming top corner shot from well outside the box from a great corner move and 3-0 it was at half time.

Steelemen plied more pressure in the second half and Ryan as ever was equal to anything which beat the defence including a superb near post block turned around for a corner. With a heavy boggy pitch it was hard to play as we would have liked plus much of the game was played in snow flurries..............but Nick finished off a an intelligent piece of interchange passing around the box to calmly slot in our fourth.

Good team display today, Ethan, Kayne and Andy defend well and are passing with intelligence out of defence.  Joe M was strong in midfield and Nick was very hard working and demonstrated some excellent ball skills.  Joe F had a great game both as striker and as midfielder and deserved his goal.  Courtney was strong as an ox and held the ball up with good passing but Dominic was oustanding today.  He had a fantastic game and worked hard in defending as well as being very exciting to watch in setting up some great chances, he thoroughly deserved man of the match.
