A very cold sunny morning saw Firesharks meet old foes Shefford on a slippy pitch which had been icy earlier. The game was evenly balanced throughout with Firesharks edging the first half and making more threats on the Shefford goal. Saints took the lead from a corner which was deflected in as an own goal. 0-1 at half time.
A brighter second half saw us push Shefford very hard and a deserved equaliser from Nick who volleyed in a left footer waist high - great goal. Joe F and Joe M went close and Courtney was agonisingly near to converting some decent cross balls in to the area. Saints pushed hard at the end but a draw it was and probably a fair result.
Ryan was excellent today and made a superb reflex save from a fine glancing header, Andy was oustanding and safe in his sweepers role, Ethan was tenacious. Nick was injured before this match but all credit to him for a battling performance with an injured painful foot. Joe M was superb - one of his best games for a long time - well done Joe. Courtney was powerful and held the ball so well and very strongly, Joe F made some good runs and dangerous crosses and Dom caused problems and passed well and intelligently in midfield. Shefford are as ever a good side and all credit to them with such a small squad in what is a very tough league for us all.
Still top of the table at the moment by one point - well done boys.
