Hitchin Town Hurricanes U10's v Barton Rovers Jets U10's

Saturday, January 14 2006

First game of 2006 and Bartons Jets couldn't take off with the mighty force of the Hurricanes blowing against them!!!
Right from the kick off it was obvious that the lads were going to rip Rovers apart with fantastic ball play and passing to be proud of. The ball rarely entered our half of the pitch in the opening stages with several near misses by Jack, Harkeerat and Ruman.

The first goal was a corker after Jack laid the ball on for Oli who calmly lobbed the keeper and opened the account to everybodys delight, and amusement as the cheeky duo then performed a scene from Bend It Like Beckham with a boot shine celebration!

Within seconds of the restart it was 2 - 0 after Harkeerat sent a high ball into the box from distance that found the net off of an unlucky defenders head for an own goal. Minutes later Harkeerat then made it 3 - 0 with a superb long range blast that gave Bartons keeper no chance.

Ruman was desperately unlucky with a brilliant shot that rattled the crossbar, not to bag the fourth, the honour of which belonged to Simmy after a neat flick on by Harkeerat.

To the credit of Callum and Rhys in defence Jets managed just one shot throughout the half that gave Matt no problem with the save.

Second half saw Hurricanes ease off a little which was a bit of a shame for the supporters though the game was well won by then, and they knew it!

As a result Barton had a few more attacks than in the first period with their left winger in particular playing well but all of their attempts were swiftly dealt with by our rear guard boys. Jets also changed keepers who performed very well for them stopping several shots, bravely blocking one very hard close range shot from Jack that fell to Harkeerat on the rebound to crack home the fifth and final goal of the match.

An outstanding performance by all the lads today against Jets, a friendy side who are a credit to their manager as they never gave up for a moment despite the scoreline.

FINAL SCORE:  HURRICANES 5 (Harkeerat 2, Oli, Simmy, o.g.) JETS 0
