Hitchin Town Youth U9 B v Herts Rangers Blue

Saturday, November 26 2005

Herts kick off and go straight on the attack the Hitchin goal, followed straight away by a Hitchin attack, both teams testing each other. The first corner of the game and Herts scramble the ball over the line, 1-0 to Herts.

Like the first game it becomes stalemate in the middle of the pitch. Hitchin are pushing forward, but are in danger of getting caught out at the back. Both teams are getting some good throw-in practice as its being kicked off a lot, but the throw-in's are not reaching the player its meet to.  Hitchins first touch seem to be letting them down a bit, and once they do get it under control they forget to pass the ball, though their tackling is very good, it has to be. They are all playing around the ball and leaving large parts of the pitch empty, thankfully the Herts players are doing the same. Apart from a couple of attempts on goal neither team really looked like scoring, thou not for the want of effort, and the half come to an end.

The second half is kicked off by Hitchin, who have the bitterly cold wind behind them. With Jake in goal, the keepers kick are going well into the Herts half of the pitch, but as yet Hitchin haven't been able to capitalize. Hitchin are pressing for the equalizing goal, but Herts are defending well. Hitchin have a series of corners, as the pressure mounts, but are not able to make any of them count, and have to defend a counter attack by Herts, which results in a corner for them, but no goal.

Hitchin still go on the attack again, but in doing so are leaving their goal open for attack. The game has become a stalemate again in the mid pitch area, both teams battling hard for the ball. Going into the last few minutes of the game and Hitchin are trying hard to get the equalizer and Herts are trying to finish off the game, so it's end to end stuff. Hitchin on the attack, while Herts are happy to counter attack, great to watch. After a frantic few minutes the final whistle goes,

Hitchin lose 0-1, a valiant effort.
