Crawley Green U10s v Hitchin Town Hurricanes U10s

Saturday, February 11 2006

From kick-off this looked like it might be a tough match.  However, the first half was to go well for the boys with the whole team gelling together as a unit.

Ruman, Oli, Jack and Harkeerat passed well and tried to create chances.  Callum moved forward to shoot off a Ruman free kick rebound, which narrowly missed the target.  The first goal came off the woodwork from a great Oli free kick.  Minutes later, Lee who had just come on the pitch, knocked the second goal home with his first kick of the ball.

The second half saw the speed of the game slow a bit, possibly due to the larger than normal Crawley Green pitch.  The speed of play built over the second half with Jack creating a chance for Lee and making an excellent shot of his own to be blocked by the Crawley Green keeper.

The third goal came from a Ruman shot, which ended in an own goal by Crawley Green.  Throughout the match Simmy, Callum and Matt did really well to keep out three or four attempts by Crawley Green.  Man of the match was difficult as all players did really well but Callum was well deserved for his relentless running up and down the huge pitch and closing down play so effectively.

Man of the Match: Callum

Final score: Crawley Green 0  Hitchin Town Hurricanes 3
(Oli, Lee, OG)
