The first few minutes saw a frantic pace of football with both goalies being tested early on. Ali had to make a crucial save at the feet of a Stevenage striker. George F was the first to have a go at goal with a left footed shot which went just wide of the right post. However a minute later it was Ben’s right foot which found the top left corner of the Stevenage goal to make it [1-0].
The hawks had numerous other chances in the first half with a long shot from Oliver forcing the Stevenage goalie to give away a corner. Oliver then had a powerful long shot on target forcing a quality save from the Stevenage goalie. George R was also unlucky when a strong strike on goal rebounded back of the right post.
The Hawks kept up the pressure into the second half and everyone was anticipating another Hawks goal. This time the honour fell to Tyler who slotted a beautiful right footed shot passed the keeper to make it [2-0].
Ben was dominating the midfield by now and a cross from the right hand wing found Ed waiting, unfortunately his shot was just wide of the right post. Half way through the second half a massive long distance shot from Ben caught the Stevenage keeper off guard. After ricocheting off the post, the ball hit the keeper straight in the face and dropped into the goal making it [3-0].
The Stevenage keeper was unable to continue after this incident and was substituted off for the remainder of the game. The last goal of the match was to come from Tyler with a shot into the bottom right corner of the goal [4-0].
Ben was substituted off following an ankle injury in the latter part of the second half; I hope he’ll be fit for the county cup match next week!
