Hitchin Town U15's were drawn away this week to Barnfield Colts who came up into Division 1 this season.
The game started off fast as usual with all players passing the ball around the pitch with ease. It wasn't long before Hitchin took the upper hand and after a fantastic through ball from midfield Liam Toomey slotted the ball into the back of the net. This goal was the start of some fantastic play.
Hitchin Town played with a confidence which we as spectators are getting used to seeing this season. There is no doubt that Hitchin played the better football, and on the day, were just to strong for the home side.
The first half saw further goals from Gareth Hedges (2), Bryn Reynolds and Ross Bates bringing the half time scoreline to 5-0.
Hitchin midfield of Kyle Ronlad, Ross Bates, Gareth Hedges and Jordan Armstrong did well and conected with each other with ease. The back four of Matt Morley, Josh Millett, Arron Goldsmith and Josh Cook kept any attempts at goal at bay.
A few changes were made at half time which saw Matt Aherne, Michael Evans and Jake Daniels come on into their respective positions. We also saw the return of Jack Ambler after his terrible injury during last season and Daniel Blanchard after his recent eye operation.
The second half started off much as the first and further goals from Ross Bates, Michael Evans and Jordan Armstrong went flying into the home sides net. Bryn Reynolds and Liam Toomey also bagged another 2 goals each to get their first hatricks of the season.
Barnfield did well and kept their heads up throughout the game. It was a well played game with good sportmanship throughout. This was a difficult game for Barnfield and we commend the way the boys kept trying.
By the final whistle the game finished 12-0. Well done to all boys, you played some great passing football...keep it up
