Stevenage Borough U11 Royals v Hitchin Town U11

Sunday, October 28 2007

Hitchin kept up their run of big wins with this powerful display against one of the Stevenage Borough junior sides.

On a large pitch and in wet and windy conditions, Hitchin set about their task well - snapping forward and using their pace and passing to create numerous chances.

A fine run by Kameron Bethell down the right was followed by an even better cross, which Lee Caller got on the end of for the opener. In the next attack, down the left this time, Kameron repeated the honours for Liam Sweeney - who made it 0-2.

You had to fear for Stevenage with Hitchin in this mood, and the floodgates duly opened as Kameron then scored two goals of his own, followed by good finishes from Christian Farrugia and Jake Alderson. Six nil at half-time for the second week running, and game over once again.

With formation changes, countless substitutions and some lazier play, Hitchin took the pedal off for much of the second half - but there was no genuine danger in front of their own goal.

Eventually the team did shake into life again, with Kameron completing his hat-trick and then Luke (having formerly been in goal) scoring despite his terrible hair-cut.

Another fine win, with little needing to be said to the team at the end apart from a deserved man of the match award for James Smith, who worked hard in midfield throughout.
