ROYSTON CROW UNDER 12's LEAGUE CUP

For the second time in a month, Hitchin Town COVE met Bishop Stortford United, though this time in the crucial League Cup First Round and after making the long trek to the venue the prophesy came gloriously true, as with a full squad, (but despite still having no subs) COVE went through with a magnificent win.
 
The first half was a one way affair, which saw the young Canaries of Josh, Sam, William and Alfie (in his first game back from injury) dominate midfield and supplying the through balls to the striking duo of Adam and Dean.The lead being taken in great style by ever dependable Adam after just five minutes, and extended further on twelve as another great strike by Adam was parried by the United keeper only for Deano to find the net with the follow up.

The defence of Ben, Jakob, Michael and Jack were rock solid and repelled any attack that broke through leaving Scott very little to worry about between the posts.

The second half saw a desperate Stortford team come onto the pitch with strong vigour in their defence and a new "tactical" approach to their attack, "winning" a penalty inside the opening ten minutes of the period. Scott, diving brilliantly to his left blocked the spot kick but could do nothing about the folow up. 1 - 2. Just five minutes later the equaliser came after an "easily gained" free kick just outside our area. 2 - 2
 
Incensed by "the comeback" , the Town lads battled through the rest of the half more determined than ever to secure the second round place, and just as it looked like going to extra time (which thankfully it didn't!) Jakob laid on a superb cross in to Adam who sealed victory with an astoundingly magical header from some distance out with just a couple of minutes left to go.
 
So, battered and bruised, a first class win, few more ever deserved. Better control, better ball skills, better pace, better teamwork and much better attitude summed up COVE...simply THE BETTER TEAM!
