This was a heroic performance and superb result against a very strong Welwyn Garden City team.
Hitchin started brightly and forced the home 'keeper in to some early saves, but the home team began to take control and took the lead 5 minutes before the break.
For the first half-hour of the second-half Hitchin were battling to stay in the game, unable to maintain possession and being forced to defend in numbers.
With all substitutes used and a few "walking wounded", the second game in 24 hours was taking its toll, but the lads somehow found the strength of character to rally in the last 15 minutes and two strikes from Jamie Scanlon sealed a magnificent victory against the odds and left the team sitting proudly at the top of the table, the only team with a 100% record.
