Hitchin Harriers U9 v Letchworth U9

Letchworth had a couple of good chances early on, their first shot was a difficult high ball beautifully saved by Ryan. A second Letchworth shot went just wide of the goal. The Harriers also had a lot of possession with a long shot from Juan heading for the top corner saved by the Letchworth keeper.

A short Juan free kick to Joe resulted in a long shot which was just wide of the target. The last minute of the first half saw several short-range shots from Juan which were all saved by the keeper. The Letchworth defence was very strong with one player in particular frustrating the Hitchin forwards.

The second half continued as the first half had finished with Juan getting another short range shot on goal that went just over the crossbar. It wasn’t until the 30th minute that Joe’s fancy footwork whilst sitting on the ground led to a short pass to Tom to allow him to put the ball straight in the back of the net [1 – 0]. Letchworth continued to counter attack with one such attack requiring Ryan to come out and meet a loan striker.

Ryan delivered a perfectly timed sliding tackle to stop an almost guaranteed goal scoring opportunity for Letchworth. In the 34th minute a short kick by the Letchworth goalie was quickly intercepted by Joe who placed the ball in the corner of the goal [2 – 0].

Another excellent performance by the Harriers who have yet to concede a goal this season! The whole team performed well with outstanding defending from Danny, Daniel and obviously Ryan. This was complemented by some excellent midfield play from Juan, Joe and Tom with Zac and Elliot doing the business up front.
