The second Soccer Sevens youth football tournament was a fantastic success last Saturday and Sunday at Top Field. 59 teams and over 550 young players from Herts, Cambs, Beds, Essex and Northants took part in sunny and (almost) dry conditions.
Austin Arrowheads Reds (from Stevenage) were deserved winners of the U9s event, winning all seven of their games and beating Stevenage Borough Stars 2-0 in the final.

Knebworth clinched the U8 and U10 titles. The U8s Pumas Yellow beat hosts Hitchin Town Greens 2-0 and the U10s Yellows won all 6 of their games, defeating Royston Town A 3-0 to clinch the win.

In the U11 event, Hitchin Town Hawks beat last year’s U10 winners, FC Comets Kaisers 3-2 after extra time in a pulsating final to retain the U11 trophy for the host club.

Many thanks from the Executive of Hitchin Town Youth Football Club to all involved in making this happen and particular thanks to Hitchin Town for the use of Top Field and all its facilities.
