SIX Hitchin Town Youth teams enter February still involved in the latter stages of the Herts County Cup, just a handful of wins from the final at Letchworth's County Ground.
The U9 Hurricanes have averaged 6 goals per game so far in the competition and have a home tie against Baldock in the last 16. The U10s Yellows beat Echoes Youth FC 5-0 to reach the last 16 and have an away tie against Chorleywood at the end of the month.
In the U14 tournament, Hitchin beat Harvesters 2-0 in the 4th round to book a quarter-final clash at home to Hoddesdon. The U15 have reached the last four and play St Albans-based Harvesters for a place in the final against either Ware or Hatfield.
The U16 Cup sees an all-Hitchin quarter-final between the Colts and the Hawks. Both teams enjoyed good away wins over Cuffley and Bushey Rangers respectively to reach the last 8.
Meanwhile, league action has been limited since the start of December due to inclement weather and many teams will face fixture congestion during the second half of the season. The consequent discrepancy in games between teams makes analysis difficult. Hitchin U12 Tigers sit proudly top of Division 3 of the Royston Crow League after a fantastic winning run. The U14 COVE team are second in Division 2 and the U11, U13 Thunder and U15 will be in league contention if they can pick up points from their games in hand.
